Where the Art Lives!

Imagine a super-duper big building right in the middle of a park called Grant Park in a city called Chicago. That's where the Art Institute of Chicago lives! It's like a giant playground for art.

This museum is so old, it was built way back in 1879. That's even older than your grandparents' grandparents! It's one of the biggest art museums in the whole United States, packed with incredible things to see.

Art Treasures Galore!

Inside, you'll find paintings and sculptures that are super famous. There's a painting of people having a picnic that looks like tiny dots up close but a whole picture from far away! You can also see a sad man playing a guitar and a painting of people in a diner late at night.

It's like a giant storybook where every page is a different piece of art, and there are almost 300,000 pieces! That's more art than you can count!

A Building That Grew!

The building itself is a bit of a story. It was first made for a giant party called the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. Over the years, the museum got so many new art pieces that they had to build more rooms!

The newest part is super modern and shiny, and it made the museum so big it's the second largest art museum in the whole country. It's almost a million square feet, which is like having a giant LEGO castle that covers a whole football field!

Learning to Make Art!

Guess what? The Art Institute isn't just a place to look at art, it's also a school where people learn to become artists! It's called the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This means it's a place where you can see art, learn about art, and even learn how to make your own amazing art. It's a special place where art is made, saved, and taught all in one spot.
