Apurímac River

Imagine a river starting high up on a super tall mountain in Peru, called Mismi! It's so high, its water comes from melting ice. This river is called the Apurímac, which means 'the chief oracle' or 'the one who speaks'. It's like the mountain is telling stories through the water that flows down!

This river carves through the land, making giant canyons that are almost twice as deep as the Grand Canyon! Some parts are 3,000 meters deep, which is like stacking 10 Eiffel Towers on top of each other! It tumbles over waterfalls and rushes through rocky spots, making it a wild ride.

The Apurímac River travels a long, long way, about 730 kilometers! That's like driving from New York City to Chicago! Along its journey, it meets other rivers and changes its name. Eventually, it becomes a part of the mighty Amazon River, the biggest river in the world!

A super long time ago, people called the Inca built amazing bridges over this river. One bridge was so strong it was used for hundreds of years! They even rebuild one special bridge every single year using old methods. It shows how important this river was to them.
