Key Facts
Meet Anne, a Girl with a Big Dream!
Imagine a girl named Anne who loved to write. She was born in Germany a long, long time ago, in 1929. When she was just a little girl, her family had to move to a new city called Amsterdam because things were becoming unsafe.
Anne loved to play and go to school, but soon, even that became difficult. She dreamed of being a writer and sharing her stories with the world. Anne had a special diary where she wrote down all her thoughts and feelings.
A Secret Hiding Place!
When Anne was 13, her family had to go into hiding to stay safe. They lived in a secret apartment hidden behind a bookcase in her dad's office building. It was like a secret fort!
For two years, Anne, her sister Margot, and her parents lived there, trying to be very quiet. Anne kept writing in her diary, sharing what it was like to live in such a small space and miss her friends and the outside world. She described everything, from what they ate to her hopes for the future.
The Diary That Touched the World!
Sadly, the family was found and taken away. Anne and Margot ended up in a very sad place called a concentration camp, where they became very sick. Anne died when she was only 15 years old.
But her diary survived! After the war, Anne's father found it and decided to share her amazing writing with everyone. It was translated into many languages, and now people all over the world can read Anne's words and learn about her life.
