An arrest is when a police officer or another grown-up in charge takes someone into custody. This usually happens if they think that person might have done something against the rules, like breaking a law. Once someone is arrested, they might be asked questions or told they are accused of a crime. It's like being held for a little while so grown-ups can figure things out.

Mostly, police officers have the power to arrest people. But sometimes, even regular people can arrest someone if they see them doing something very wrong, like stealing. This is called a citizen's arrest! It's like being a superhero for a moment, but you have to be really sure they did something bad and follow special rules.

Arrests are important because they help keep everyone safe. If someone is suspected of doing something dangerous or against the law, arresting them stops them from doing it again right away.
