Anna of Russia

Imagine a land so big it stretches across many time zones, like a giant playground! Anna of Russia ruled over this enormous country. It was a place with cold, snowy winters and warm summers, perfect for growing yummy berries and grains.

This land was called Russia, and it was full of sparkling rivers and deep, green forests. Anna was like the queen of this giant kingdom, making important decisions for everyone living there.

Anna wasn't just any ruler; she was an Empress! That's like being the most important person in charge of a whole country. She became Empress a long, long time ago, from 1730 to 1740.

Before that, she was even in charge of a smaller place called the Duchy of Courland and Semigallia. Being an Empress meant she had to make big choices about laws, building new things, and how people lived. It was a very busy job!

Anna's uncle, Peter the Great, was a very famous ruler before her. He loved building amazing cities, like St. Petersburg, which was like building a giant LEGO castle!

Anna continued some of his ideas. She also helped scientists by giving them money to do cool experiments. Sometimes, the changes she made were to help the rich people, called nobles, have more power.

It was a time of big shifts in Russia.

Some people remember Anna's time as a 'dark era,' which means it had some difficult parts. But she also helped Russia become more like other countries in Europe.
