Anna Filosofova

Imagine a time when girls and women didn't have as many chances as boys and men. That’s where Anna Filosofova comes in! She was a very important person in Russia a long, long time ago, born in 1837.

Anna was like a superhero for women, working hard to make sure they could learn and have good jobs. She believed everyone, no matter if they were a boy or a girl, deserved a fair chance in life. Anna was a leader who inspired many others to join her cause.

Anna didn't do it all by herself! She had two amazing best friends, Maria Trubnikova and Nadezhda Stasova. Together, they were like a super-team called the 'triumvirate'!

They met in special get-togethers called salons, where they talked about big ideas. These friends started groups to help women find safe places to live and learn new skills. They were like the best playdate group ever, but they were planning to change the world for women!

One of Anna's biggest dreams was for women to go to college. Back then, it was really hard for women to get into higher education. Anna and her friends worked super hard, talking to important people in the government.

They convinced them to open special schools just for women! These schools were like the first universities for women in Russia. It was a huge win, like finally getting to go on the biggest slide at the playground!

Even though sometimes things got tough, Anna never gave up. She even started her own school on her family's land where both boys and girls could learn together. Later in her life, Anna saw big changes happening in Russia, like a revolution!

She was still a strong voice for women and even helped organize the first big meeting for women in Russia. Anna Filosofova showed everyone that one person, with friends and a big heart, can make a world of difference.
