Meet the Awesome AU Campus!

American University, or AU for short, is like a big, special school in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States. It has a huge campus, about 90 acres, which is like 90 football fields all put together! This campus is home to lots of buildings where students learn all sorts of cool things. It's a place where people go to become super smart and learn how to help others.

How AU Got Started!

A long, long time ago, in 1893, a very smart person named John Fletcher Hurst had a big idea. He wanted to create a university where students could learn to be good leaders and help make the world a better, more peaceful place. So, with the help of a church group called the Methodist Episcopal Church, American University was born!

It started by teaching older students, and later, in 1925, it opened its doors to younger students too.

Superpowers of AU Students!

Students at AU learn to be amazing problem-solvers. They have special schools for learning about different countries and how to work with people from all over the world. They also learn about business, art, science, and even how to be great lawyers!

It's like having a toolbox full of skills to fix big problems and make new things happen. Many students even go on to work with the U.S. government, helping to make important decisions.

Learning to Fly Like Eagles!

At American University, students don't just learn in classrooms. They also get to play sports as the 'American Eagles'! They compete in exciting games against other schools. Plus, the university has a giant library with over a million books โ€“ that's more books than you could read in your whole life! It's a place buzzing with energy, learning, and fun, all in the heart of a very important city.
