Amazons

The Amazon is the biggest river in the whole world! It's so wide in some places that you can't even see the other side, like looking across a giant lake. This super-long river flows through a huge, green rainforest called the Amazon rainforest. It's home to more kinds of animals and plants than almost anywhere else on Earth. Think of it as a giant, watery highway for nature!

The Amazon River gets its water from thousands of smaller rivers and streams that all flow into it. It's like when all the little puddles after rain join up to make a bigger stream. The water comes from rain that falls in the Andes Mountains, which are very tall mountains far away. This water then travels for thousands of miles all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. It's a long, wet journey!

The Amazon River is packed with incredible creatures! You can find pink river dolphins that are super friendly, and piranhas with sharp teeth (but don't worry, they usually don't bother people). There are also giant otters that love to play, and anacondas, which are enormous snakes that can grow longer than a school bus!

Plus, colorful macaws fly overhead and monkeys swing through the trees along the riverbanks.

The Amazon River and its rainforest are like the lungs of our planet. The trees help make the air we breathe clean.
