Imagine a superhero on ice skates! That's Alexander Ovechkin, also known as 'Ovi'. He's a super-fast hockey player who plays for the Washington Capitals. His jersey number is 8, so people call him 'The Great 8'. He's famous for scoring TONS of goals, more than almost any player in the history of the game! He's like a goal-scoring wizard on the ice.

Ovi was born in Russia a long time ago, in 1985. He started playing hockey when he was just a kid. He played for teams in Russia before coming to America to play in the NHL. When he first started playing in the NHL, he was so good that he won an award for being the best new player. He's been scoring goals ever since!

What makes Ovi so special? He has amazing speed and a super strong shot. He can score goals in so many different ways! He's scored over 900 goals in his career, which is more than most people can even imagine. He's even scored goals when the game is tied and it's time to win, or when his team has more players on the ice. He's a true hockey champion!

One of the biggest dreams for any hockey player is to win the Stanley Cup. In 2018, Ovi and his team, the Washington Capitals, finally won it! He was so important to the team that he was named the best player in the whole playoff tournament. It was a huge moment for him and all the fans who cheered him on.
