Air India Express Flight 812

This story is about a special airplane, Air India Express Flight 812. It was supposed to fly from a super busy place called Dubai, where there are tall buildings and lots of people, all the way to a city in India called Mangalore. Mangalore is known for its beautiful beaches and green hills. The plane was a big Boeing 737-800, which is like a very, very long school bus with wings!

On a day in May, the plane was trying to land in Mangalore. Landing a big airplane is like trying to park a giant toy car perfectly in a tiny spot. Sometimes, it's tricky! The pilot was trying to land, but the plane wasn't quite ready. The other pilot said, 'Let's try again!' but the captain kept going.

Because the plane didn't land perfectly, it went too far down the runway. It was like running too fast and tripping! The plane went off the runway and down a hill, and sadly, it caught fire. It was a very, very sad day. Out of all the people on the plane, only a few were able to get out safely.

This was the very first time something so terrible happened to Air India Express planes. It's important to remember this day so that everyone can learn how to make flying as safe as possible. Safety for everyone on airplanes is the most important thing!
