Canada's Big Leader Vote in 2025!

In early 2025, Canada's Liberal Party had a super important job. Their leader, Justin Trudeau, decided it was time for someone new to take the wheel! So, all the party members got to vote for a new leader. It was like choosing the class president, but for a whole country's political team!

After everyone voted, a person named Mark Carney won! He got SO many votes, more than anyone expected. He's now the leader of the Liberal Party. It's a big deal because the leader of this party often becomes the Prime Minister of Canada, the country's top boss!

Mark Carney became the Prime Minister of Canada on March 14, 2025. What's really cool is that he's the FIRST Prime Minister in Canada's whole history who never used to be a regular elected politician before. He used to be in charge of Canada's money, which is a very important job too!

Just a little while after becoming Prime Minister, Mark Carney decided it was time for another big vote, called a federal election. This is where everyone in Canada gets to vote for who they want to represent them in the government. The Liberal Party, with their new leader, won this election too, and Mark Carney even won a spot to represent his local area!
