2025 Coeur d'Alene shooting

On a sunny day in June 2025, a fire started on a mountain near Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. But this wasn't just any fire! It was set on purpose, like a sneaky trick. When brave firefighters rushed to help, someone was waiting to surprise them. It was a very sad day because some of the helpers got hurt.

The people who got hurt were firefighters. These are the amazing grown-ups who run into danger to save people and stop fires. They wear special gear and drive big red trucks. They are like superheroes in real life! They were trying to put out the fire on Canfield Mountain when the surprise happened.

After the surprise, lots of police officers and other helpers came to find the person who caused the trouble. It was like a giant game of hide-and-seek, but much more serious. More than 300 people worked together for five whole hours to make sure everyone was safe. They searched the whole mountain!

This event reminds us that firefighters are very important. They risk their lives to keep us safe. It's important to be kind and thankful for them. The fire itself wasn't too big, only about as large as 23 football fields, but the surprise made it a day people won't forget.
