Key Facts
Who Gets to Be the Boss?
In Poland, grown-ups get to choose their president, like picking the captain of a sports team! In 2020, everyone was excited to vote. But guess what? The voting day had to be moved because of something called COVID-19, which made lots of people sick. It was like having to postpone a birthday party because everyone had a cold!
The Big Vote Day!
After waiting a little while, the big voting day finally came on June 28th. Lots of people voted for their favorite candidate. But it was so close, nobody got enough votes to win right away! It was like a race where two runners were neck and neck, and they needed another race to see who was faster.
Round Two: The Final Showdown!
So, they had a second round of voting on July 12th. This time, it was between the person who was already the president, Andrzej Duda, and another person named Rafał Trzaskowski. It was a super close contest, and everyone was on the edge of their seats to find out who would be the next leader of Poland!
And the Winner Is...
In the end, Andrzej Duda won and got to be president for another four years! He was the first president in a long, long time to get re-elected. It's like winning a game and then getting to be the team captain again for the next season. This election showed that many people in Poland wanted him to stay in charge.
