Imagine a giant party with teams from all over the world playing a super fun game called cricket! The 2011 Cricket World Cup was like the Olympics for cricket. Fourteen teams, like superheroes, battled it out in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. It was the tenth time this amazing tournament happened, and everyone was super excited to see who would win the big shiny trophy!
Where the Magic Happened!
This amazing cricket party took place in three sunny countries: India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Bangladesh got to host World Cup games for the very first time, which was a huge deal! The grand finale, the most important game, was played in a huge stadium in Mumbai, India. It was so big, it could probably fit a few school buses inside!
India's Big Win!
The final game was a nail-biter between India and Sri Lanka. After lots of amazing hits and catches, India won! What made it extra special is that India won the World Cup right in their own country, on home turf! Yuvraj Singh was like the star player of the whole tournament, hitting and bowling brilliantly. It was the first time ever that two teams from Asia played in the final match.
Who Played and Why It's Cool!
Fourteen teams, including some of the best from around the world, played in this tournament. It was a chance for them to show off their incredible skills. Winning the World Cup is a dream for every cricket player, and for India, winning at home was the best feeling ever! It brought so much joy to millions of fans watching.
