1914 World Series

Key Facts
What Was the 1914 World Series?
The World Series is like the Super Bowl for baseball! In 1914, it was a super exciting championship game between two amazing teams. One team was the Philadelphia Athletics, who had won the year before. The other team was the Boston Braves. They played to see who was the best baseball team in the whole country!
The Amazing Comeback Team!
The Boston Braves had a really, really surprising year. On a summer day, July 4th, they were in last place, like being at the very end of a race. But then, something magical happened! They started winning and winning and won the whole league! It was like a fairy tale, and everyone called them the 'Miracle Braves'.
Who Won the Big Game?
Even though the Philadelphia Athletics were super strong, the 'Miracle Braves' played incredibly well. They won all four games they played against the Athletics! This was super special because it was the first time a team had won the World Series by winning every single game. The Braves were the champions!
A Different Kind of Home Field
The Boston Braves had a funny situation. Their old baseball field was being fixed, so they had to play their 'home' games at the same stadium as another Boston team, the Boston Red Sox! So, even though they were the home team, they were playing in a place that wasn't really their own stadium.
