Zamorin

The Zamorin was like a super-important king who ruled a place called Calicut in India. Think of them as the boss of a big, bustling city that was like a giant playground for ships! These kings were in charge of a kingdom that grew to be very powerful. They were the leaders of their people and made sure everything ran smoothly in their land.

The Zamorins started out as leaders of a smaller area called Nediyiruppu Swaroopam. Over time, they became so strong that they helped make Calicut a super famous place for trading. Ships from all over the world would sail there to buy and sell amazing things. The Zamorins ruled a big stretch of land, from a place called Kollam all the way to forests near Koyilandy.

Calicut, ruled by the Zamorins, was a super important place for trading. It was like the busiest market you can imagine, but for ships! People traded all sorts of wonderful things there. This made the Zamorins very rich and powerful. They were like the VIPs of trade on the southwest coast of India, making their kingdom famous far and wide.

The last Zamorin was a very sad story. When he heard that a neighboring country had been taken over by a powerful leader named Hyder Ali, he was very upset. He didn't want his kingdom to be captured too. So, in a very dramatic moment, he sadly set his own palace on fire and stayed inside, choosing to burn with it.
