Meet the Boy King!

Yazdegerd III was a king, but he was super young when he started! He was only 8 years old, like a kid in elementary school. His dad was Shahriyar and his grandpa was Khosrow II. But when Yazdegerd became king, he didn't have much power. The grown-up soldiers and important people were the ones really in charge. It was like being the captain of a game, but everyone else made all the decisions!

A Kingdom in Trouble

Yazdegerd's kingdom, called the Sasanian Empire, was like a giant playground that was falling apart. Because the leaders were fighting amongst themselves, their kingdom got weaker. Bad guys from other lands, like the Göktürks and Khazars, started attacking.

It was like if your school was having a big argument, and then bullies from another school came to cause trouble. Yazdegerd had to keep moving around to try and stay safe.

The End of an Era

Sadly, Yazdegerd III couldn't stop the enemies from taking over his kingdom. He spent most of his time running away, hoping to find an army to help him. But it was no use.

In the end, a regular person, a miller (someone who grinds grain), ended his life near a place called Merv. This was a very sad moment because it meant the end of a super old and important empire that had been around for over 400 years!

What Happened Next?

When Yazdegerd III died, it was like the final chapter of a very long book. His empire, the Sasanian Empire, was gone forever. This was a big deal because it was the last big kingdom in that part of the world that didn't follow the religion of Islam.

After Yazdegerd, new rulers and new ways of life came to the land. It's like when a favorite TV show ends, and a new one starts with different characters and stories.
