Imagine a leader who was like a superhero for farmers! That was Yashwantrao Chavan. He was born a long, long time ago, on March 12, 1913.
He was a very smart and kind person who wanted to help everyone, especially the people who worked on farms. He was so good at helping people that many called him the 'Leader of Common People'. He believed everyone should be treated fairly and have a chance to succeed.
From a Young Age to a Big Role!
Yashwantrao Chavan grew up and became a very important politician. He was part of a big group called the Congress party. He was so good at his job that he became the Chief Minister of a place called Bombay State.
Then, when Bombay State split into two, he became the very first Chief Minister of a brand new state called Maharashtra! He also helped make important decisions for the whole country as a Finance Minister.
Helping Farmers Grow!
One of Yashwantrao Chavan's biggest dreams was to help farmers. He knew that farmers worked very hard to grow our food. So, he helped start something called 'co-operatives'.
Think of a co-operative like a big club where farmers could work together. They could share tools, share ideas, and sell their crops together to get better prices. This helped them earn more money and take care of their families.
