Meet the Food Heroes!

The World Food Programme, or WFP for short, is like a superhero team for hungry people! They are the biggest helpers in the whole world when it comes to giving food to people who don't have enough. They are part of a bigger team called the United Nations.

WFP helps millions and millions of people every single year, making sure no one goes to bed hungry if they can help it. They are also super good at making sure kids get yummy meals at school!

When Did the Food Helpers Start?

A long, long time ago, in 1961, some smart people decided that everyone should have enough to eat. So, they started the World Food Programme! It's like when you start a new club at school, but this club is all about sharing food.

They have their main office in a city called Rome, which is in Italy. But their helpers are all over the place, in 87 different countries! That's more countries than you can count on your fingers and toes many times over.

Why WFP is Super Important!

Why do we need WFP? Because sometimes, bad things happen like floods, earthquakes, or fights, and people can't get their food. WFP rushes in with food to help!

They also help build things, like safe places for food to be stored, and make sure trucks can get food where it needs to go. They even help people get money to buy food when it's needed. They are like the ultimate problem solvers for hunger!

WFP's Amazing Superpowers!

WFP has some really cool superpowers! One of their biggest jobs is giving food to people who are in danger or have lost everything. They also help kids get breakfast and lunch at school, which is super important for learning and growing.

Did you know they even fly planes to help doctors and nurses get to places where they are needed? They are always working to make sure everyone has enough food, which is a really big and important job!
