The West PC-800 was a special kind of computer made a long, long time ago, in 1984, by a company in a country called Norway. It wasn't just for playing games or writing stories. This computer was designed to be like a super-smart alarm center!

What made the West PC-800 so cool was its ability to use different 'brains' and 'rulebooks.' It could work with up to four different kinds of computer brains, like the 6502, Z80, 8086, and 68000. Each brain was good at different things, and it could also use different 'rulebooks' called operating systems. This meant it could be programmed to do all sorts of amazing tasks, like keeping an eye on things and sounding an alarm if something was wrong.

The West PC-800 was invented by a Norwegian company called West Computer AS. They wanted to make a computer that was more than just a toy. They imagined it as a helpful assistant, especially for keeping things safe and sound.
