Where is Watts?

Imagine a sunny place in California called Los Angeles. Watts is a neighborhood tucked away in the southern part of this big city. It's like a special corner of Los Angeles, right next to other towns like Lynwood and Huntington Park. The weather there is usually warm and sunny, perfect for playing outside!

A Place with a Past!

Long, long ago, Watts was a place with big ranches where cowboys might have ridden horses. Then, trains came to town, and Watts grew super fast! It even became its own city for a while before joining up with Los Angeles. Over many years, lots of people who worked hard moved there.

Amazing Towers and Fun Times!

Watts is famous for the incredible Watts Towers! These towers are super tall and were built by one person, Simon Rodia, using colorful tiles and broken glass. They look like something from a fairy tale! People in Watts also love to celebrate with toy drives and parades, showing how much they care about their community.

Who Lives in Watts?

Lots of different people call Watts home. For a long time, many African American families lived there, and today, many Hispanic families are part of the community, along with African Americans.
