A Treasure Chest of Art!

Imagine a giant treasure chest overflowing with beautiful paintings, sparkling jewelry, and cool statues. That's kind of like the Walters Art Museum! It's a special building in Baltimore, Maryland, where you can see art from all over the world.

Some of the art is super old, like from when your great-great-great-grandparents were kids, and some is newer. It’s a place where stories are told through colors and shapes, and everyone can visit for free!

How This Art House Grew!

This amazing art collection started with a man named William Walters. He loved art so much that he started collecting it when he lived in Paris, a very long time ago. His son, Henry, loved art even more!

Henry kept collecting and collecting, and he even planned the building where all this art would live. In 1934, they opened the museum so everyone could share in their wonderful discoveries. It’s like they built a giant art playground for everyone to enjoy!

What Makes This Art Special?

The Walters Art Museum has art from many different times and places. You can see things from ancient Egypt, like statues that are older than the pyramids! There are also fancy suits of armor that knights might have worn, and beautiful paintings that look like they are telling a secret story.

It’s like traveling through time and visiting different countries just by walking through the museum’s rooms. Each piece of art has its own unique magic!

Why We Love This Art Place!

The best part about the Walters Art Museum is that it’s free for everyone to visit! This means that anyone, no matter how old or how much money they have, can come and be inspired by all the incredible art. It helps us learn about different cultures and how people lived long ago.

It’s a place where imaginations can soar, and you might even get ideas for your own amazing drawings or stories. It’s a gift to the whole community!
