Imagine a super-fast writer who loved to play with words! That was Voltaire. He was born a very, very long time ago, in 1694, and he wrote amazing stories, poems, and even funny plays. He was like a superhero of words, always ready to share his ideas. He believed everyone should be allowed to say what they think and believe what they want, which was a pretty big deal back then!

Voltaire didn't just write a few things; he wrote SO much! He wrote over 20,000 letters – that’s more letters than you’d send in your whole life! And he wrote more than 2,000 books and little pamphlets. He was so famous that people all over the world knew his name. He was like an early rockstar of writing, but instead of music, he shared his brilliant thoughts with everyone.

Voltaire was a big fan of fairness and freedom. He thought it was super important for people to be able to say what they believed without getting into trouble. He also didn't like when people were treated unfairly. He used his writing to point out when things weren't right, like a detective solving mysteries with words. He wanted everyone to have the freedom to choose their own religion too.

One of Voltaire's most famous books is called 'Candide'. It's a funny and exciting story about a young man who goes on a wild adventure. In the story, Voltaire makes fun of people who think everything is perfect. He wanted to show that the world isn't always the 'best possible world' and that we should always try to make things better. It’s a story that still makes people laugh and think today!
