Vijay Rupani

Imagine being in charge of a whole state, like being the captain of a giant playground! Vijay Rupani was that captain for Gujarat, a busy place in India. He was born a long, long time ago, on August 2, 1956.

He became a very important leader, like a superhero for his state, making big decisions and helping people. He worked with a special team called the Bharatiya Janata Party, or BJP, to do his best work.

Vijay Rupani had a super important job called Chief Minister. This means he was the top leader for Gujarat! He did this job for a really long time, from August 5, 2016, all the way to September 11, 2021.

That's more than five whole years! He was chosen to do this job twice because people liked the way he led. He represented a place called Rajkot West in the big meeting place for leaders, called the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

Sadly, Vijay Rupani's story ended in a very unexpected way. He was a passenger on an airplane called Air India Flight 171. Something very sad happened, and the plane crashed on June 12, 2025. This was a very shocking event. A WOW fact about him is that he was a leader who helped shape a big part of India for many years, and his story is a reminder of how quickly things can change.
