Long, long ago, Valladolid was a very important place for kings and queens. They even had a special university where people learned all sorts of things, starting way back in 1241! Guess what? Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer, actually died in this city. It was also a capital city for a little while, like a temporary royal home!

Valladolid has a super old and famous main square called the Plaza Mayor. It was the very first one like it in all of Spain, and other cities copied it! You can visit museums here, like one with amazing sculptures or the houses where famous writers like Cervantes and Zorrilla lived. It's a city full of history and art waiting to be discovered!
Festivals and Film Stars!
Every year, Valladolid has exciting events. There's a big Holy Week celebration, and even World Jigsaw Puzzle Championships – how cool is that?! It's also known for its film festival, where movies from all over the world are shown. Because of its love for movies, it's been called a 'City of Film' by UNESCO!
