University of São Paulo

The University of São Paulo, or USP for short, is like a super-duper big school in Brazil. It's so big that it's the largest public university in the whole country! Think of it as a city of learning with lots of buildings and places to explore.

It has eleven different campuses, which are like separate school grounds, and four of them are right in the big city of São Paulo. It's a place where students go to learn all sorts of cool stuff, from how to build bridges to how to understand stars!

This amazing university wasn't built all at once. It started way back in 1934, which is a super long time ago, even before your grandparents were born! It was like putting together a puzzle.

They took some schools that were already there, like schools for learning about laws, building things, and farming, and put them all together. Then, they added new parts, like a place to study all about thinking, science, and stories. It kept growing and getting bigger and better over the years!

USP is special because it's a place where people do lots of important thinking and discovering. Scientists there create more than a quarter of all the science papers written by people in Brazil! That's like if one out of every four kids in your class discovered something new.

People who study at USP become really important. Some of them even become presidents of Brazil or start big companies. It’s a place that helps make Brazil a better and smarter country!

At USP, people do three main things: they teach, they research, and they share what they learn. Teaching is like when your teacher tells you new things. Research is like being a detective, trying to figure out new secrets about the world.

And sharing is when they tell everyone what they found out! They have classes for almost everything you can imagine, from art to medicine to engineering. It’s a place where curiosity is super important and everyone is encouraged to ask questions and find answers.
