University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota is like a super-duper big school located in two cities, Minneapolis and Saint Paul! It's so big that it has more students than many towns have people. This giant university is split into 19 different colleges and schools, each focusing on different cool subjects like science, art, and even how to build amazing things.

It's the main and oldest part of a whole family of University of Minnesota schools across the state.

This university started a very, very long time ago, even before Minnesota became a state! The people who planned it back in 1851 had a big dream. Over the years, it grew and grew, adding more buildings and more students. It’s like a tiny seed that grew into a giant tree, with branches reaching out to teach and discover new things. It's been around for more than 170 years!

This university is a place where amazing discoveries are made! Scientists here are like super detectives, always looking for answers to big questions. They spend a lot of money, like buying tons of cool science toys, to invent new things and understand the world better.

They are so good at it that they are ranked among the top universities in the whole country for their research. They've even helped people win Nobel Prizes!

Besides being super smart, the University of Minnesota has awesome sports teams called the Golden Gophers! They play exciting games in a big league called the Big Ten. Plus, students and people who used to go there have won a LOT of Olympic medals – imagine winning more than 90!

That’s enough medals to give one to almost every kid in a big school. It shows that students here are great at sports too!
