University of Lagos

The University of Lagos, or UNILAG for short, is a super big school in a busy city called Lagos, in Nigeria. It's like a city of learning! It started a long, long time ago, in 1962. This university is so important that it's known as one of the first big schools in Nigeria. It's even ranked as one of the best places to learn in all of Africa. Think of it as a star student on the continent!

UNILAG has three main places where students go to school. Two of them are in a neighborhood called Yaba. One is the main campus, which is really, really big.

The other is a newer campus. The third place is where students learn about being doctors and nurses, and it's called the College of Medicine. This special place is in an area called Idi-Araba.

It's like having different wings for different kinds of learning!

The main part of UNILAG is super cool because it's almost surrounded by a big, beautiful lake called the Lagos Lagoon. It's like having a giant playground right next to your school! This main campus is huge, covering 802 acres of land. That's bigger than many, many soccer fields put together! It's a place where thousands of students come to learn and grow every single year.

Every year, around 8,500 new students start their journey at UNILAG. That's like filling up a whole stadium with new learners! When you add all the students, from those just starting to those finishing their studies, there are over 57,000 students learning there. That's more people than live in some towns! It's a bustling place full of bright minds.
