United Nations Security Council

The United Nations Security Council is like a very important club for countries. Its main job is to make sure everyone gets along and to stop fights between countries before they start. Think of them as the world's referees, making sure everyone plays fair and follows the rules. They have special powers to help keep peace all around the globe.

This special team was created a long, long time ago, after a really big war called World War II. The grown-ups who made it wanted to make sure such a terrible war never happened again. Not every country is on this special team all the time. There are 15 spots, and 5 countries are always on the team because they are very big and important.
