Meet the World's Kid Helper!

UNICEF is like a giant superhero team for children! Their real name used to be the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, but now it's the United Nations Children's Fund. They work in almost every country, 192 to be exact, which is more countries than you can count on your fingers and toes many times over!

They help kids get important shots to stay healthy, make sure moms and babies are well, and even help when big problems like earthquakes or floods happen.

How Did This Helper Start?

A long, long time ago, after a big war called World War II, many children and their moms were very sad and didn't have enough food or medicine. So, people decided to create a special group to help them. That's how UNICEF began! At first, it was just for a little while, but it helped so much that they decided to keep it going forever to help children everywhere with their long-term needs.

Why UNICEF is Super Important!

UNICEF is like a best friend to kids who need extra help. They make sure children can learn and grow strong. They help stop sicknesses that can make kids very ill.

They also make sure there's clean water to drink and safe places to play. When a disaster strikes, like a big storm, UNICEF is one of the first to arrive with food, blankets, and care. They believe every child deserves a happy and healthy life.

Amazing Things UNICEF Does!

Did you know UNICEF helps millions of babies be born safely each year? They also give out important vaccines, like the ones that protect against five serious diseases, to over 65 million children! They help kids go to school and make sure children who don't have enough to eat get special food to get better.

They even helped over 12 million children learn in 2018 alone! That's a lot of kids getting a helping hand.
