Who Was President Yar'Adua?
Imagine being the boss of a whole country! That's what Umaru Musa Yar'Adua did. He was the President of Nigeria, a big country in Africa. He was born a long, long time ago, on August 16, 1951. He became president in 2007 and was in charge until he sadly passed away in 2010. He was part of a big political team called the Peoples Democratic Party.
His Journey to the Top!
Before becoming president, Yar'Adua was like a mayor for a whole state called Katsina. He was the governor there for many years, from 1999 to 2007. That's like being the principal of a very, very big school for a long time! He worked hard and people liked his ideas, which helped him become president later on.
A Special Trip for Health
Sometimes, even leaders need to take care of themselves. In 2009, President Yar'Adua had to go to Saudi Arabia to get better because he was sick. He was being treated for something called pericarditis, which is a problem with the lining around your heart. He came back to Nigeria in February 2010, but sadly, he passed away a few months later.
