Tupi people

The Tupi were a big group of amazing people who lived in Brazil before other people from far away arrived. They were part of a family of languages called Tupi-Guarani. Think of it like a big family tree where many languages are related! They were one of the largest groups of people in Brazil a super long time ago, even before Brazil was called Brazil!

The Tupi people didn't always live in the same place. They started their journey in the Amazon rainforest, which is full of giant trees and colorful birds. But about 2,900 years ago, they decided to go on a big adventure! They packed their bags and started moving south, all the way to the sunny coast of Brazil. It was like a giant road trip that lasted for many, many years!

Even though many years have passed, the Tupi people are still part of Brazil's story. Today, many people who are part of the Tupi family have joined with the Guarani people. They speak languages that are like cousins, all part of the Tupi-Guarani language family. It’s like how you might have cousins who speak a little differently but are still family!

The Tupi people are super important because they were some of the very first people to live in and explore so much of Brazil. They helped shape the land and its culture. Learning about them helps us understand how Brazil became the amazing country it is today. They are a big part of Brazil's history, like the first chapters in a very exciting book!
