Tommy Pham

Imagine a super-fast runner who can also hit a baseball really, really far! That's Tommy Pham. He plays a game called baseball, where players try to hit a ball and run around bases. Tommy has played for many different baseball teams, like a traveling superhero of the baseball world! He started playing when he was a kid, just like you, and dreamed of playing in the biggest games.

When Tommy was younger, his eyes had a little trouble seeing clearly. It was like trying to see the playground from across the schoolyard without your glasses! But Tommy didn't give up. He got special contact lenses that made his vision super sharp, even better than 20/20! Now he can see every pitch and every hit perfectly, which is a huge help in baseball.

Tommy is known for being super fast and a great hitter. In one amazing year, he did something super special! He hit lots of home runs (when the ball goes out of the park!), got many doubles (hitting the ball so it bounces off the wall), and stole lots of bases (running to the next base when the other team isn't looking). It was like he was a blur on the field!

Every year, baseball teams pick players they think will be great. This is called a draft. Tommy was picked by the St. Louis Cardinals a long, long time ago, in the 16th round! It took him many years of practicing and playing to finally get to play in the Major League Baseball games that everyone watches. He never stopped trying!
