Tom Bradley: The Mayor Who Changed a City!

Tom Bradley was a super important person who became the mayor of a big city called Los Angeles. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1917. Before he was a mayor, he was a really good athlete, running fast and jumping high!

He was also a police officer, which means he helped keep people safe. Then, he decided he wanted to help the whole city, so he ran to be the mayor. He won and became the first African American mayor of Los Angeles!

Tom Bradley loved to run! He was so fast that he got a scholarship to college just for running. He even dreamed of going to the Olympics!

But he chose a different path. He became a police officer and worked hard to understand the city. People liked him because he was fair and cared about everyone.

He decided to run for mayor because he believed he could make Los Angeles an even better place for all its people. He was mayor for a super long time, 16 whole years!

Mayor Tom Bradley was special because he was the first Black mayor of Los Angeles. This was a really big deal! It showed that anyone, no matter their background, could become a leader.
