Key Facts
Who Are the Nasty Twits?
Imagine a grumpy man with a beard so messy it might have old food stuck in it, and a woman with a glass eye that pops out! That's Mr. and Mrs. Twit. They live in a yucky, dirty house and are always trying to trick each other. They aren't kind at all; they are spiteful and lazy. They even play mean tricks on their pet monkeys, the Muggle-Wumps, who are forced to do silly tricks for them.
Where Did This Yucky Story Come From?
A famous author named Roald Dahl wrote 'The Twits' in 1980. He really, really disliked beards! He said he wrote this story to do something against beards. He even told a friend's son that a beard might have breakfast, dinner, and old rubbish in it, maybe even a bicycle wheel! Roald Dahl loved to write fun, sometimes a little bit scary, stories for kids.
Why Are The Twits So Famous?
Lots of people love 'The Twits'! It was even picked as one of the top 200 books ever written in a big survey in Britain. Years later, the Twits were so famous they were put on a special stamp, like a tiny picture you put on a letter! People liked the book so much that it was turned into a play, and there's even a movie coming out soon!
What Happens to the Mean Twits?
Because Mr. and Mrs. Twit are so mean and play nasty tricks, they eventually get a taste of their own medicine. The monkeys they treated so badly decide they've had enough! The monkeys work together to get revenge on the Twits. It's a funny and exciting ending where the nasty couple finally gets what they deserve for being so wicked.
