A Baby Found in a Shining Bamboo!

Imagine a special bamboo plant that glows like a tiny star! One day, a kind old man who loved to cut bamboo found a tiny baby girl inside one of these glowing stalks. She was as small as a teacup and incredibly beautiful.

He and his wife, who couldn't have children, were overjoyed and named her Kaguya-hime, which means 'Shining Princess'. She grew up to be the most beautiful girl anyone had ever seen, with a smile that could light up a room.

Five Brave Knights and a Princess's Puzzles!

As Kaguya-hime grew, her beauty attracted five rich and powerful men who all wanted to marry her. But Kaguya-hime didn't want to marry just anyone. She gave each of them a super tricky challenge!

One had to find a special jewel from a dragon's neck, another had to bring a branch from a magical tree on the moon. These tasks were so hard, none of the suitors could complete them, and they all went home disappointed.

The Emperor's Visit and a Sad Goodbye

Even the Emperor of Japan heard about Kaguya-hime's amazing beauty and wanted to meet her. He visited her, and she was so lovely that he fell deeply in love. He asked her to marry him, but she said no. Even though she liked the Emperor, she knew she couldn't stay on Earth forever. She had a secret: she was actually a princess from the Moon!

A Trip Back to the Moon

One night, when the moon was full and bright, Kaguya-hime told her adoptive parents the truth. She explained that her real family from the Moon had come to take her home. It was a very sad moment because she loved her Earth parents very much.

A special chariot arrived from the Moon, and with a tearful goodbye, Kaguya-hime floated up into the sky, leaving behind her earthly home and everyone who loved her.
