Key Facts
Meet the Mariner and His Scary Story!
Imagine a wedding party, all happy and ready to celebrate. Suddenly, an old sailor, with wild eyes, grabs one of the guests! He has to tell his story, a tale of a long sea voyage.
He tells of a beautiful ship, but then something terrible happens. A big, black bird called an albatross appears, and the sailor shoots it with his bow and arrow. This is where the real trouble begins, and the sailor wishes he could take it back!
A Curse and Strange Happenings
After the sailor shoots the albatross, the ship gets stuck in a hot, sticky, calm sea. The sun beats down, and everyone is so thirsty. The sailors blame the old man for the albatross's death and even hang the dead bird around his neck, like a heavy, sad necklace.
Then, spooky things start to happen. The crew members begin to die, one by one, leaving the old sailor all alone on the ship. It's a very lonely and scary situation.
Supernatural Visitors and a Strange Ship
When the ship is completely empty of living sailors, the old man sees a ghost ship! On it are two spooky figures: Death and Life-in-Death. They play a game of dice to decide the fate of the sailors. Life-in-Death wins the old sailor, meaning he has to live, but in a terrible, lonely way. The ship keeps sailing, but it's powered by spirits, making it a truly haunted vessel.
A Lesson Learned and a Promise
After a very long time, the old sailor finally feels a change. He sees water snakes and realizes they are beautiful creatures. He blesses them without even meaning to!
Suddenly, the curse starts to lift. Rain falls, and the ship begins to move again, guided by angels. The old sailor is saved, but he has to spend the rest of his life telling his story to people to warn them about respecting nature and all living things.
