The play gets really exciting when King Pentheus of Thebes doesn't want anyone celebrating Dionysus. He thinks it's all nonsense! Dionysus, who is super powerful, gets very angry. He tricks King Pentheus into dressing up like a woman and going to one of the wild mountain parties. This is a big mistake for the king, and things get very, very serious. It shows that you shouldn't mess with a god!
