Meet Te Pāti Māori!

Imagine a team in New Zealand that works super hard to help Māori people. That's Te Pāti Māori! They are like a special club that wants to make sure Māori traditions and rights are respected. They talk about important things like fairness and making sure everyone is treated kindly. They want to help people who might not have a home and make sure everyone has enough food to eat.

Where Did They Come From?

Te Pāti Māori started in 2004. A lady named Tariana Turia helped start it because she felt strongly about certain rules. She and another person, Pita Sharples, were the first leaders. They wanted to make sure Māori voices were heard in the government. Over the years, they have worked with other groups to try and make New Zealand a better place for everyone.

Why They're Like Superheroes!

Te Pāti Māori has some amazing goals! They want to make sure that promises made a long time ago to Māori people are kept. They also want to stop unfairness and make sure that Māori have their own special way of leading themselves. They believe in protecting nature, like the deep oceans, and making sure everyone has a safe place to live and good healthcare.

How They Help New Zealand

Te Pāti Māori helps by being a voice for Māori people in the government. They try to get laws changed to be fairer. They also want to make sure that important Māori traditions are celebrated and kept alive. By working hard, they hope to make New Zealand a place where everyone feels included and respected, no matter who they are.
