Have you ever seen the sky get dark and heard thunder rumble? That's a storm! Storms are like big, noisy parties in the sky.

They can bring strong winds that push you around like a toy, and lots of rain or snow that can make puddles as big as a bathtub. Sometimes, they even have lightning that flashes super bright, like a camera flash, and thunder that booms like a giant drum! Storms are nature's way of changing the weather in a big way.

Storms start when the air gets a little mixed up. Imagine a big, invisible playground in the sky where hot air and cold air bump into each other. When this happens, it can create swirling winds.

Sometimes, hot air rising from the ground can make tiny whirlwinds, like little dancers spinning around. These swirling winds can gather together and grow into bigger storms. It's like a recipe where different kinds of air mix to make something powerful!

Even though storms can be a little scary, they do important jobs. The rain they bring helps plants grow and fills up rivers and lakes, which is good for everyone. Sometimes, storms can even help when it's very dry, like giving the Earth a big drink of water.
