Meet the Man Who Loved the Ocean!

Imagine someone who loved the ocean so much, they wanted to build special submarines to visit places no one had ever seen! That was Stockton Rush. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1962.

He was a smart businessman who co-founded a company called OceanGate. This company was all about taking people on amazing journeys deep, deep down into the sea, like visiting shipwrecks that are like underwater museums!

From Airplanes to Underwater Worlds!

Before Stockton Rush became a deep-sea explorer, he worked with airplanes! He was an engineer who helped test fast jets like the F-15. That means he understood how to make machines work safely, even when they were going super fast.

Then, he decided to use his smarts to explore the ocean. He started OceanGate with a friend in 2009, and they began building special submarines to take people on incredible adventures to the bottom of the sea.

Adventures to Famous Shipwrecks!

Stockton Rush wanted to show people the amazing things hidden in the ocean. One of the most famous places he wanted to visit was the wreck of the Titanic. This was a giant ship that sank a very long time ago.

Visiting it is like traveling back in time! OceanGate built special submersibles, which are like small submarines, to take people down to see these incredible sights. It was a way to explore history in a very exciting way!

A Sad Ending to a Big Dream

Sadly, one of Stockton Rush's deep-sea adventures ended in a very sad way. In 2023, a submersible from his company, called Titan, had an accident while trying to visit the Titanic. Stockton Rush and four other people were on board and did not survive. It was a very tragic event. Even though his story had a sad ending, his dream was to explore the unknown parts of our planet.
