Stephen Harper

Imagine being the boss of a whole country! Stephen Harper was like that for Canada. He was born a long time ago, on April 30, 1959. He became the leader of Canada, called the Prime Minister, in 2006. He stayed in that big job until 2015. That's like being the captain of your school for many years! He was the first Prime Minister from a political team called the modern Conservative Party.

Stephen Harper loved learning about how money works, which is called economics. He went to university and studied really hard! Then, he decided he wanted to help make Canada a better place.

He started by being part of a group that wanted to change things. He was elected to a big meeting place called Parliament when he was 34 years old. He worked his way up, leading different groups, until he became the leader of his political team and then the Prime Minister!

When Stephen Harper was Prime Minister, he made some important choices. He helped lower taxes, which meant people had a little more money to spend. He also made laws to make sure the government was honest and fair.

He even sent Canadian soldiers to help in other countries when they needed it. He also helped create special savings accounts that are still used today to help people save money for the future.

After being Prime Minister for 10 years, Stephen Harper's team didn't win the next big election. So, he stepped down from being the leader of the country. But he didn't stop working! He has since taken on other important jobs around the world, helping different groups and sharing his ideas. He's like a wise advisor who still helps make big decisions.
