A Wedding Gone Wrong!

Once upon a time, in a big city called Paris, there was a wedding. It was supposed to be a happy day for a princess and a prince. But many of the guests were Protestants, and most people in Paris were Catholics. This difference in beliefs caused a lot of anger and fear. Sadly, this special day turned into a very sad and scary event for many people.

When the Fear Started

The scary part began late at night, just after the wedding party. Some important leaders who were Protestant were hurt or killed. Then, the fear spread like wildfire! People who were angry started hurting other Protestants all over the city. It was a very confusing and frightening time for everyone, especially for those who were different.

How Many People Were Hurt?

It's hard to know exactly how many people were hurt, but it was a lot. Some people think it was as many as 30,000 people across the whole country! That's more people than can fit in a giant sports stadium. This sad event made many people very scared and changed how people felt about each other for a long, long time.

Why We Remember This Day

This event is remembered because it shows how important it is to be kind and respectful to everyone, even if they believe different things. It was a very sad time in history, and it teaches us that fighting and hurting others because of beliefs is never the right answer. We learn from history to try and make the world a better place.
