They build nests, called dreys, high up in trees using twigs and leaves, or they might find a cozy hole in a tree trunk. Some squirrels even dig burrows underground!

Squirrels are mostly herbivores, which means they love to eat plants! Their favorite foods are nuts, seeds, and acorns. They also munch on fruits, berries, buds, and sometimes even mushrooms. They are super smart at finding food and love to bury nuts to save for later, but they often forget where they hid them!

Squirrels are amazing jumpers, leaping from tree to tree like tiny superheroes! Their bushy tails act like a rudder to help them steer and balance. They can also flatten their bodies to glide through the air for short distances. When they run, they can reach speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, which is faster than you can run!
