Skid block

Have you ever seen a race car zoom by? Underneath some of them, there's a special part called a skid block. It's like a flat, sturdy board that hangs down a little bit. Before that, cars could get really, really close to the ground, which helped them go faster in a special way. The skid block is like a referee for the race car's height! It stops the car from scraping the track, which could be dangerous and unfair. This plank is usually made of strong stuff like fiberglass or a special wood mix. It's attached to the very bottom of the car. Its job is to make sure there's a little bit of space between the car and the track, like the height of a small toy car. This prevents the car from using a trick called 'ground effect' too much, keeping the race fair for everyone.
