Shaji N. Karun

He's a director and a cinematographer, which means he helps make movies look super cool and tells the story with his camera. He made his very first movie, called Piravi, and guess what? It won a special award at a famous movie festival in France called Cannes!

Shaji N. Karun comes from India, a big country with lots of amazing stories. He helped start something called the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.

Shaji N. Karun has made some really special movies that have won lots of awards. Besides Piravi, he also made Swaham, Vanaprastham, and Kutty Srank. His movie Piravi was so good that he won the National Award for Best Director! That's like being the best player on the whole soccer team. He also won two Kerala State Film Awards for being the best director for Swaham and Vanaprastham. Wow!

Shaji N. Karun was like a captain for filmmaking in his home state of Kerala. He was the first chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, making sure it was a great place for filmmakers.

He was also the boss of the International Film Festival of Kerala for a few years, making it a super exciting event. He even led the Kerala State Film Development Corporation, helping new movies get made. He loved movies and helped them grow!
