Sandgrouse

Sandgrouse are a family of birds, and there are sixteen different kinds! They are like the speedy runners of the bird world, but they don't fly very high. Instead, they love to walk and run on the ground.

You won't find them in forests or jungles. Sandgrouse prefer wide-open spaces like grassy plains and dry, sandy deserts. They are found in warm places in Africa and Asia, and some even visit Europe!

Sandgrouse are tough birds that live where it's very dry and hot. They like places with no trees, just lots of grass or sand. Think of wide-open fields or places that look like a desert.
