Building a Big, Beautiful Place!

People started building the Tabernacle a super long time ago, way back in 1863! It took them many years, until 1875, to finish it. That's longer than you've been alive! It was built to hold big meetings for a group of people called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Think of it like a giant classroom or meeting hall for lots and lots of people.

The Sound is SO Good!

One of the coolest things about the Salt Lake Tabernacle is how amazing the sound is inside. Even if you whisper from one side, someone on the other side can hear you! This is because of how it was built. It also has a giant pipe organ with hundreds of pipes that make beautiful music. A famous choir, called the Tabernacle Choir, has sung here for over 100 years!

Still a Special Place Today!

Even though there's a newer, bigger building nearby now, the Salt Lake Tabernacle is still used. When lots of people come for special meetings, some of them sit in the Tabernacle. It's like a historic treasure that people love to visit and hear music in. It's a place where stories and songs have echoed for many, many years.
