Rush hour...

Key Facts
When the Roads Get Super Crowded!
Rush hour is a special time of day when lots and lots of people are traveling at the same time. It usually happens twice every weekday, once in the morning when everyone is going to school or work, and again in the afternoon when they are coming home. Think of it like everyone trying to fit through a tiny door all at once!
This makes the roads super busy and the cars move very slowly, sometimes slower than a walking person.
Why Do Cars Get Stuck?
When too many cars want to use the same roads at the same time, they start to get in each other's way. It’s like when too many kids try to go down the same slide at the playground at once! The cars have to slow down, and soon they are all stopped or moving very, very slowly.
This is called traffic congestion. Sometimes, even if there aren't tons of cars, a little problem like a broken-down car can make the whole road jam up!
More Than Just Cars!
Rush hour isn't just for cars! It also happens on buses, trains, and subways. Imagine a school bus packed with so many kids that there's no more room to sit! That's what public transport can feel like during rush hour. People are trying to get to their destinations, so they all choose the same popular times to travel, making everything crowded and a bit slower for everyone.
The Big Travel Times
The most common times for rush hour are in the morning, usually between 7 AM and 9 AM, and in the evening, often from 4 PM to 6 PM. These are the times when most grown-ups are heading to work or school, and then heading back home. So, if you're ever in a car during these times, you might notice it takes a lot longer to get where you're going because of the big travel rush!
