Rufus the Hawk

Rufus is a special bird called a Harris's hawk. He has a very important job at a super famous place called the All England Club, where they play tennis! His main mission is to politely ask pigeons to fly somewhere else. Imagine a hawk as a feathered security guard, making sure the tennis courts are peaceful and clean for the players and the crowds. Rufus is a real hero in his own way!

Rufus has been working hard for a long time, about 15 years! He took over from another hawk named Hamish. Rufus patrols the huge grounds every day, especially when the big Wimbledon tennis matches are happening. He even helped out during the Olympics! He's like a super-fast delivery person, but instead of packages, he's delivering messages to pigeons: 'Time to go!'

Rufus is so good at his job that everyone loves him! Once, he was even stolen, and people all over the world were sad until he was found safe and sound. He's been called the 'world's most notable bird'! He even has his own special ID card with his job title: 'Bird Scarer'. How cool is that? He's a feathered celebrity!

Rufus is a Harris's hawk, which means he's a natural hunter. Pigeons don't like hawks, so when Rufus flies around, they get a little scared and decide to find a new place to hang out. He flies over the big buildings and the grassy areas, making sure the pigeons know this is not their home. It's like he's playing a game of 'tag' with the pigeons, but he's always 'it'!
